Picture a new showroom opening on a Thursday. The road outside carries thousands of cars a day, the glass front is hard to read from a moving vehicle, and the sale ends on Saturday. A row of feather flags along the kerb tells every passing driver that something is happening here. That is the job an advertising flag does, and it is why event teams, retailers and developers keep ordering them.

What is an advertising flag and how is it made?

An advertising flag is a printed fabric panel on a pole that carries a logo, offer or message. It is made by printing the design onto fabric, cutting and stitching the panel to shape, then fitting it to a pole and base that suit the place where it will stand. Each step is done at our facility in SRTIP, Sharjah.

Printing and fabric

We use dye-sublimation printing, which transfers the ink into polyester fabric so colours stay bright and the print does not sit on top like a sticker. The fabric range is knitted polyester, taffeta satin, bridal satin, eco-satin and minimatte. Conference flags may also use stiffener fabric so they hang neatly.

Pole and base

The pole and base matter as much as the print. A feather flag needs a base that matches the ground, such as soil, paving or a car park. Typical base types are ground spikes, cross bases and weighted bases. Tell us the surface and we will match the base to it.

Why do businesses use flags for branding?

Businesses use flags because they put a brand at eye level or above, in the open, where people already walk or drive. A flag is light, can be moved or replaced, and costs less than a permanent structure. The benefits below are the ones customers raise most often.

Visibility from a distance

A tall flag is visible above cars, crowds and stands. It marks the entrance to a showroom, a car park or an event gate before anyone reads a sign.

Flexible and repeatable

You can move flags between locations, change the artwork for the next campaign, or rent them for a single event. That suits seasonal offers and national celebrations.

One supplier from design to installation

Because we design, print and install in-house, changes to artwork or quantity do not pass through a chain of subcontractors. Questions go to the people making the flag.

Where are advertising flags used? Applications and use cases

  • Showroom and shop openings. Feather or teardrop flags along the kerb or the entrance.
  • Exhibitions and trade shows. Flags at the stand and the hall entrance, often with a custom exhibition stand.
  • Roads and campuses. Bridge flags on lamp posts for universities, communities and districts.
  • Government and national days. Hoisting flags on tall poles and national table flags indoors.
  • Hotels and malls. Terrace flags and hoisting flags at the main entrance.
  • Building sites. Fence flags that carry the developer or project name along the hoarding.
  • Outdoor promotions. Flags beside a branded tent at roadshows and product launches.

How do flags help your business?

Before, a business on a busy road may depend on a small sign that drivers cannot read at speed. After, a row of flags in the brand colours marks the place and tells people what is on offer. Flags do not replace a good sign, but they add a second layer that works from further away and can change with each campaign.

Feather, teardrop or L flag: which should you choose?

Choose by where the flag stands and how long people see it. The comparison below uses general, typical behaviour of each shape.

Flagpoles, bases and rental

For buildings and institutions we supply hoisting flags and the poles to carry them. Poles come in conical and straight shapes and three metals. The table shows the range.

Pole materialShapesHeightsTypical strengths
AluminiumConical, straight6, 8, 10, 12 mLighter to handle and install
G.I. / metalConical, straight6, 8, 10, 12 mSturdy and heavy
Stainless steelConical, straight6, 8, 10, 12 mStrong corrosion resistance

For indoor use we make conference flag poles in Normal, VIP and VVIP versions, with a polished gold, silver or chrome finish and a weighted metal or marble base. Typical heights run from 1.8 to 3.0 metres, and the compatible flag sizes are 60 x 90 cm, 90 x 150 cm or custom.

Flag rental

Not every campaign needs a purchase. We rent flags and flagpoles by the day or by the month for exhibitions, sports events, conferences, national celebrations and launches.

How to choose the right flag and avoid common mistakes

  1. Decide where it stands. Roadside, indoors, on a pole or on a lamp post each need a different flag.
  2. Pick the height by viewing distance. Taller flags are read from further away.
  3. Choose single or double-sided print. Use double-sided when people see both faces.
  4. Match fabric to use. Light polyester for outdoor feather flags, satin for a smoother indoor look.
  5. Match the base to the ground. Soil, paving and car parks need different bases.

The mistake most buyers make is putting too much on the flag. A logo, one short line and a strong colour read better than a full leaflet. Keep the message short enough to read in two seconds.

Installation, care and permits

We deliver and install flags and flagpoles. Typical care advice is to take feather and teardrop flags down in very strong wind, wash printed fabric gently by hand or on a delicate cycle, and let it dry fully before storing. UAE sun fades any printed fabric over time, so flags used every day are replaced more often than those used for events.

Outdoor advertising on public land normally needs municipal approval. Read the guidance from the authority for your emirate, for example Dubai Municipality, or the official UAE government portal, and confirm with your landlord or venue.

Advertising flags: common questions

Straight answers on shapes, fabrics, poles, rental and quotes.

What is the difference between a feather flag and a teardrop flag?

A feather flag is tall and narrow with a slightly curved edge, so it catches the eye from a distance. A teardrop flag is rounder and holds more print area near the top. Both come in 2 to 6 metre sizes. Pick feather for roadside visibility and teardrop when the graphic needs more space.

What sizes do your advertising flags come in?

Feather, teardrop and L flags are made in 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 metre sizes. Bridge flags are 6 metres and double-sided. Hoisting flags are made for flagpoles of 6, 8, 10 and 12 metres. Table flags and conference flags follow desk and room sizes, and custom sizes can be quoted.

Which fabric should I choose for outdoor flags in the UAE?

We print on knitted polyester, taffeta satin, bridal satin, eco-satin and minimatte. For outdoor use, knitted polyester is the usual choice because it is light and lets wind pass through, while satin gives a smoother, richer look. Tell us where the flag will stand and we will recommend a fabric.

Can the flag be printed on both sides?

Yes. Flags can be printed on one side or on both sides. A single-sided flag shows the design in reverse from behind, while a double-sided flag reads correctly from both directions. Choose double-sided when people will see the flag from either side, such as a street or a bridge.

Do you rent advertising flags and flagpoles?

Yes. We offer short-term flag and flagpole rental by the day or by the month. It suits exhibitions, sporting events, conferences, national celebrations, product launches and corporate functions. Tell us the dates, location and number of flags and we will confirm what is available.

What flagpole material should I choose for a hoisting flag?

Hoisting flagpoles are available in aluminium, G.I. (galvanised iron) and stainless steel, in conical or straight shapes, from 6 to 12 metres. Typically aluminium is lighter, G.I. is heavy and sturdy, and stainless steel has the strongest corrosion resistance. Your site and budget decide the choice, so ask for a recommendation.

Do you print national flags and corporate flags?

Yes. We make national flags, corporate flags, institutional flags and custom promotional flags. National table flags are made to official flag specifications. For corporate flags, send your logo and brand colours so the print matches your identity.

Can you make a flag if I only have a logo?

Yes. Our in-house team can build the flag artwork from your logo and brand colours. We can also adapt your existing brand guidelines to the flag shape or print from a file you supply. You see the design before production starts.

Do you install flags and flagpoles?

Yes. We handle delivery and installation as part of the service, from single flagpoles to rows of feather flags along an entrance. For site-specific installation, tell us the location, surface and number of flags so we can plan the right bases and fixings.

Do you deliver advertising flags outside Sharjah?

Yes. We make everything in Sharjah and supply Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and the rest of the UAE. Send your location with your quote request so delivery and installation are planned together.

Do I need a permit to put up outdoor advertising flags?

Often yes. Flags on roads, lamp posts and public land usually need approval from the local municipality or the landlord. Flags inside your own property or an event venue are often handled by the venue. Check with the authority for your emirate before you order, and tell us if we should help prepare drawings.

What do I need to send to get a flag quote?

Send the flag type, height, number of flags, single or double-sided print, your logo or artwork, the place of use and the dates. A photo of the site helps us choose the pole and base. You can send everything by WhatsApp or through the contact form.
